Feel depressed

I am one month out of surgery. I have been having a lot of depression. I am not sure what is going on. I don't want to feel like a baby and call my doc and say I am depressed. Anyone feel like this? Will it get better?

Re: Feel depressed

Never hesitate to call your Dr with a question. Chances are good, another patient has done so as well. That being said, I've had some depressed times; but nothing sustained. Usually it's a result of not being able to do something that I feel like I "should be able to do for myself". It may get better; but it may also be a matter of hormones out of wack. Your Dr can help determine this.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Re: Feel depressed

Bigbratt -

Depression can be a serious illness It is not uncommon after a hysterectomy. Due to a variety of factors I ended up with clinical depression after my surgery, luckily I already had a counsellor who knew me and helped me through all of this.

Definitely discuss this with your Dr. you are not being a baby.

Re: Feel depressed

You are not alone. Please call your dr - you aren't a baby. I'm going through similar issues (and I will be 8 weeks post op on Friday) and called my dr and he was able to get me the help that I need. This is not uncommon for us! Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Feel depressed

I have been having depression problems also. I talked to my doctor, and she put me on more hormones. That may be something you and your doctor may want to talk about.

Good Luck!!!

Re: Feel depressed

Please call your doctor. I have a family member that had hormone issues and didn't tell her doctor. It ended up causing some permanent repercussions for our family. Your doctor should be able to help.
