9weeks and hard,swollen,burning tummy....STILL!!!!?

It,s now 9 weeks since my TAH and my tummy is still very hard, swollen with burning and odd stabbing pains.
I know the dreaded "swelly belly"can take a long time to go but is the hardness normal??!
Thanks sisters((hugs))

Re: 9weeks and hard,swollen,burning tummy....STILL!!!!?

I am 8 weeks today and my belly is still swollen as well. I think that inside stitches have dissolved and as a result we feel more achy pain. For me I figured out that the sharp pain is related to bowels filling. Are you still taking anti inflammatory medication, and stool softener? I notice that feeling is coming back to skin on abdomin, which is adding to the discomfort. I am sure it is the same inside as out, that nerves are healing and we feel different type pain. Hang in there, we will make it thru. And don't over do it!

Re: 9weeks and hard,swollen,burning tummy....STILL!!!!?

Thanks Wendy....It,s reassuring to know that someone is going through the same as me(and at the same time too).
I still take the stool softners but no anti inflamitory meds....perhaps i,ll start on them again for a little while.
Let,s hope the symptoms don,t last too long for either of us.

Re: 9weeks and hard,swollen,burning tummy....STILL!!!!?

I am still taking ibuprofen every 4 hours, and Tylenol every 6 or 8 hours. My stabbing pains have not happened today at all. Whoo hoo! Feel great today, I have been working part time from home, and may have been over doing it. Are you taking it easy? Yes I would recommend the ibuprofen if you can tolerate it, keeps the swelling down. I hope you feel better as well, I really think we are doing well considering what we had done! Keep your chin up.
