LAVH: Upcoming hysterectomy 9/7: No prep or liquid diet?

Hi!! Wednesday I'm having a LAVH. The doc said I didn't need to do a bowel prep, and I don't need to do a liquid diet at all. Just nothing after midnight the night before. I see alot of posts where others are having to do liquids...does that seem weird?

I think it depends on your doctor. I unfortunately had two surgeries this summer. When my uterus and fibroid came out I had to do three surgical soap showers and nothing to eat after midnight. I had my ovaries, cervix and lymph nodes out 11 days ago, cancer gynecologist. He required liquid diet and surgical soap shower. No bowel preps!! Think each doctor is different. I'm having surgery the same day and was given the same instructions as you. I guess it depends on the doc and the type of hysterectomy.

Different docs and hospitals give different instructions. You need to follow the instruction you were given without adding or subtracting anything, as that's the condition they'll expect you to arrive in at the hospital.

Just a heads-up: I wasn't told to do a bowel prep, but when I arrived at the hospital, the prep nurse had a Fleet enema waiting for me. It was over with quickly. I'd never had one before and would have been freaked if I hadn't heard of them on this site.
