Re: Epideral/ spinal

I had a sore back at the insertion point of my epidural after I had both my boys and was told this was normal. I would assume the same in your situation but def best to ask your doc.
It's pretty common to gain weight post op for a few reasons. One being that you are much more sedative than normal as you are recovering so your body is not burning at the same rate as it would if your were being as active as normal. Your body may also be hold waster as it heals, as well if you have swelling. Your hormones can also play a part in weight gain even if you kept both ovaries. All valid things to discuss with your doc.

Re: Epideral/ spinal

Hi, If you have reduced ovary function-reduced estrogen, then bone & joint aches can occur. I had spinal during surgery & I had a lower back ache during week 1 & 2. Then 2 months ago joint pains started. My pains moved, 1st my thumb joint, then wrists, knees, then lower spine. Increasing fatty acids-salmon, avocado, flax seeds, olive oil, nuts, seeds, supplements-flax oil, or primrose oil, fish oil...

For backaches, lay flat, knees uo w pillow under knees. Head flat on bed or floor w rolled towel under nap of neck. If you can take ibrophrophen 45 min bf, helps inflammation..

Weight gain can occur post op.. Exercise, eating healthy & hydrate. Veggies, fruits, proteins.. Watch processed foods. Also have your thyroid checked-3 tests.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy: Epidural / spinal - spine hurts

Our core-abdominal area got messed up during surgery, and our backs have to work a little harder until we regain our abs strength. I experienced mid-back pain, unusual for me. If I did too much, even sitting upright which requires keeping your back aligned, I'd be rewarded with middle back pain. As I started resuming daily living (going to work, sitting up more), I noticed it more.

The things that worked for me were (1) reclining, (2) heating pad and (3) foam roller or tennis ball to pinpoint the tight muscles. Reclining was my top choice. Like Laila's guide on lying down, reclining supported my back, and the slight lean spread the weight across my hips which also helped my back. I strategically placed throw pillows on the easy chair to let me lean back at just enough of an angle. I could still watch TV or read or check phone notifications. After about 45 minutes to an hour my muscles would be relaxed enough again. Finally, when I was able to, I would lie down on the floor on my back... and I still do this when needed. One time, I got down on the floor and heard about 4-5 vertebrae crack. Ah yes - physical therapy!
Certainly run it by your doc to get his take on your back pain.
