Anyone had a hernia repair w/ partial hysterectomy?
When you get some more info/answers be sure to post. It'll be interesting to see if a 2nd opinion agrees.
I'm still a bit confused as to how your Dr can tell that theres an opening (hernia) between those areas with a simple manual exam. Maybe I'm just confused and someone else will be along to better explain anatomy to us...
in the meantime, stay well and good luck should you decide to seek out a 2nd opinion.

Anyone had a hernia repair w/ partial hysterectomy?
I had my 2nd opinion this morning. I knew I was in trouble when the doc examines me and says, "Wow, that's not something you see everyday"! The hernia truly is "rare" in that most of these types (enterocele) occur much lower down in the vagina. Mine is actually at the junction where the vagina and uterus meet.
So I'm still diagnosed with a hernia and the best option is through an abdominal repair. It's very high up, so a vaginal surgery may not give the doctor full access. The decision to remove the uterus is apparently up to me, according to the 2nd opinion doc. He seems to think it's not necessary for the repair. But since I've always had heavy, painful periods, I think my vote is to have my uterus removed.
I'd love any thoughts/opinions on this. This site has lots of great info & I cherish the responses I've gotten thus far.
