Surgery on Tuesday - Just Switched Hospitals!

I went this morning to my pre-op blood/urine tests at the hospital where my surgery is scheduled. It reminds me of a cheap hotel. I asked to see a patient room and all I could think about was how I would get no rest there because I would be creeped out the whole time. Everything was dated and worn, and most of the walls in the hospital are insane assylum white. The waiting area is the same room as the employee lounge!

On my drive back to work I tried to tell myself it would be okay, and that I would just deal with it, because I figured there would be no way to have the surgery somewhere else and be able to have it on the 5th (which has been scheduled for several weeks).

My husband convinced me to call my Dr. to see if I could go somewhere else. I knew it was a longshot, but I called and guess what? I can have the surgery on the same day at the "real" hospital across the street!

I feel so much better now, but I'm kicking myself because I passed that hospital 3 times in the last 8 weeks, every time I went to the doctor's office. Every time I passed, I noticed that it wasn't kept up like most hospitals. I wish I would have just stopped weeks ago and checked it out!

Another life lesson learned...

Re: Surgery on Tuesday - Just Switched Hospitals!

glad you spoke up about it..and are going to a nicer hospital... i think a hospital can make all the difference... that is why i chose to have my surgery at one in Altamonte Springs instead of in Sanford......

it was a little further drive...but a much better quality hospital with great nurses.....

hugs to all,

I wrote that it reminded me of an insane assylum, and guess what? That's what it used to be!
