Partial hysterectomy at 19?

Hello all

I think Im posting in the right place sorry if I'm not.

Starting back in February I started having constant pain in my abdominal area on the left side. Having had kidney/bladder problems in the past I went and got checked for an infection which I did have.Due to my past I was sent to a specialist and had a ct scan. Turns out my kidneys where fine , the only thing that showed up was that I was on my period. I was told if i still was in pain in a few days to go to the ER and see if they could find anything out.Going to the ER I they said i probably had Endo and was sent off to a Gyno.

I had a vaginal ultra sound done and we saw that it seemed like my left fallopian tube was filled with liquid. Not sure what was wrong but wanting to find out we went ahead and scheduled an exploratory laproscopy done.

I just had it done this Thursday and found out that I didn't have endo but other problems. My left fallopian tube has a mass of varicose veins attached to it. My Dr. said if I were a middle aged women who had kids this wouldn't be to surprising but I am a 19 virgin. But that isn't it it turns out that my uterus is small , abnormally small. My Dr said it never really developed from its infant state.

Now my Dr is doing some research and is talking to other Drs trying to figure out whats going on and how to help or even stop my pain.He said I may have to have a partial hysterectomy.

So whew theres my story sorry ifs its jumbled.
Anyways I was wondering if anyone else might have been through something similar or had any insight on going though this at a young age.

Thanks!

That is a lot to go through at your age. I pray that they find other options for you to enjoy your adult life pain free

Re: Partial hysterectomy at 19?

Wow! This makes me so sad! Your so young. Don't jump into anything so permanent until you do a lot of research, and maybe even get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I'm 47 so was ready for this surgery . ( April 4, had hysterectomy, kept both ovaries). My problems started when I was about your age and progressively got worse as the years rolled by.I'm very happy that my pain is coming to an end. I do not however think at 19 I would have wanted this surgery. Welcome to hystersisters. You'll find all kinds of help and answers here! Best of luck to you and your in my prayers.

Re: Partial hysterectomy at 19?

Oh sweetie, you are soooo young!!! Please listen to the other women and get a second, and a third and a fourth opinion. Even if you end up going with your first doctors advice it will be worth getting as much advice as possible. Do you have a good support system at home? Please continue to research your options, ask for help, and keep posting so we can support you. Don't rush into anything right away!! TONS of hugs coming your way!!!!

You may want to put a call out to the young hystersisters on this site...I know they are out there and I'm sure you'll be able to relate to many of their experiences. :-)

Re: Partial hysterectomy at 19?

Thanks all for replying. Lucky my family and most or my co workers are very supportive of me at this time..save for maybe my roommate.

I don't want to rush things but at the same time I wish I could do something to make the pain and tiredness to go away.I have a high tolerance to pain and am able to work through it but its getting very tiring.

I have a follow up in 2 weeks , sooner if my Dr has found anything though his research and talking with other Drs.

At the moment he is putting me on a birth control that will stop my periods for a few months as he doesn't want me having because they increase my pain.I have always had long heavy painful periods but never suspected something like this was going on.

It kinda helps writing everything out on this site and being able to talk to others going through theses types of things.

Thank you everyone!

Re: Partial hysterectomy at 19?

Maybe ask your doctor if he thinks first her could just remove the affected tube and ovary, leaving the rest. If that doesn't work for you pain you could always choose a hysterectomy later?
