Anyone have to use Metrogel Vaginal Cream before surgery?

Hi, Just got my whole pre-op package in the mail, and there is a prescription for Metrogel Vaginal Cream to use once a day for 5 days before the procedure. I don't think I have read about anyone having to use that on here, is it a normal thing? And what is it for? I will ask the doc next week, just wanted to know if any other ladies have used it.
I am really getting scared-- but can't wait to NOT BLEED any more...

I use MetroGel, but for Rosecea. (a mild skin rash on my face) I have no idea about using it vaginally because my pharmacist put a label on the tube that says external use only. But if your doctor prescribed it, you should use it. I'm not sure if it's an anti-fungal or anti-bacterial med, but I'm sure if you called a pharmacist they'd tell you. Good luck.

I did an internet search on the drug you mentioned and came up with this....

"Bacterial Vaginosis or Vaginitis
... 300 mg orally twice a day for 7 days (94% cure); OR metronidazole vaginal cream 0.75% (Metrogel ) 1 applicator intravaginal each day for 5 days (75% cure);. ...

Thanks for answering-- I don't have an infection, wonder if he is just trying to make sure I don't get one? I will let you know after I talk to him on Tuesday
