Hysterectomy bumped to 3/6 but no overnight stay?

I have been getting all my paperwork from my OB surgeon who is doing a robotic laproscopic hysterectomy but leaving my 1 remaining ovary. Although he will be addressing a golfball sized cyst on that ovary while he's in there. All my paperwork, and the office nurse I've been corresponding with have said I'm going home same day. Should I pack a bag just in case? Everything online, here, and every friend/family member I've talked to with a hysterectomy said they stayed at least 1 - 3 nights in the hospital. I'm just getting some red flags, should I be worried they're trying to give me the boot out the door as soon as I'm done? Or is it better to be home? I have a history of 2 strokes so I'm used to hospital stays (it isn't my first rodeo) but this just seems odd.

A lot depends on the type of hysterectomy your friends and family members have had. I had an abdominal hysterectomy and stayed three nights. But laparoscopic surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis, which means a stay of up to 23 hours. This *could* mean an overnight stay, esp. for a surgery done in the afternoon, but many women with laparoscopic surgery go home the same day.

A lot of people who have laproscopic go home same day. I had tah and only stayed overnight. Most of my Drs. patients who have less invasive surgery go home same day, tah 1-2 nights. But I felt like I could have gone home same day. Actually I tried but they wouldn't be let me.

I had surgery at 7:30 am and was home by 2:45 pm - but I had to meet certain check points before they would discharge me. (Peeing, pain and nausea under control, and blood test to confirm bleeding was not an issue.) I was just fine at home. Good luck, and don't worry - if you aren't ready to be sent home they won't kick you out. (I would bring an overnight bag, but keep it in the car, if I were you.)
