I believe I'm outdoing myself on THIS one

I believe this may be my silliest of silly questions--

Can I presume that when one refers to a liquid diet prior to surgery, one is referring to clear liquids and chocolate shakes are not part of the deal?

I believe I'm outdoing myself on THIS one

My liquid diet was strict. It limited me to only green or yellow jello and no red juices. I could also have popsicles, but they could only be green or yellow. The nurse said it was because of the dye they put into your system during surgery to see if there are any leaks or problems.

I found out the hard way that they used green dye in my stomach to check for those leaks during surgery. Gross! The nurse almost laughed at me when I got sick the first time after surgery and starting freaking out that it was dark green in color.

Welcome to the TAH club Puzzler! I, myself, will be a vertical girl. I hope you know what a TAH entitles you to:

1. Any restaurant that delivers within a 30 mile radius is fair game.
2. All rules of the house change. In other words, though we can't wear pants, we will wear THE pants.
3. There are additional food groups that didn't exist before, such as the dessert food group.
4. The remote control is under different management.

and so much more! And it's important to exercise your right to ALL entitlements. So as you can see, there are considerable benefits.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery and some serious pampering!

Laughing carefully!

Fro Yo,

I appreciate your sense of humor! I'm 19 days out of surgery and I can laugh again--very carefully.

Thanks for helping us see the lighter side and giving us a smile!

Best wishes to all Ladies in Waiting!

You're hilarious Fro-Yo!

My doc didn't tell me anything about "liquid" diet...just no eating or drinking after midnight the day before my surgery. I do remember seeing the gigantic bag-o-pee and it was BLUE?! I was like...what the???? Obviously it was from the dye.

Actually I asked my DR. if champagne was a clear liquid, and she said "Yup, same as chardonnay" Cheers Fro-Yo!
