Checking in again

Just wanted to ck back in to ask for assistance. It's been 3wks and 2 days since I had a supracervical adonminal hysterectomy. I was having a pretty good day on yesterday, minimal pain. But today is a different story. I woke up this morning having the worse pain ever. I have been having a little trouble sleeping at night. When I lay down I try to lay on my left side. It is very uncomfortable and I feel some pain when I do. I can feel stuff moving around on the inside and the pain is internal. I wonder if anyone else has been through this experience and if so how did you make it through. My dr tells me the pains I'm feeling is normal and it part of the healing process that is taking place on the inside. Can anyone please advise me on your 3 wks recovery experience. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I had a TAH. At 3 weeks (and again at 4-1/2 weeks) I had setbacks with increased pain. But both times I took it REALLY easy for about 3 days and the pain tapered off.

It's always good to check with your doctor when you have increased pain, because sometimes it can be a danger sign of a complication, but I have been surprised at how much ups and downs I have experienced, and the fact that it feels like I'm going backwards sometimes. In my case, I suspect that I'm overdoing it.

I hope you feel better soon -- please be sure to take care of yourself.

I had my surgery on Jul 12th TAH/BSO because of endo and adhesions and I have just the past 2 nights been able to sleep on my sides without a pillow between my legs and supporting my abdomen from "flopping" over. I am still having problems sleeping but it has gotten a lot better lately. I also have had periods of "throbbing" and sharp pains but they do resolve with rest. I hope you feel better soon!

This recovery is a looooong journey! You will experience zingers, twinges, etc. for quite some time. I remember that the 3rd and 4th wks. seemed to be the hardest.

Take it one day at a time...it gets better. Each month you can look back and see how much progress you have made! Hang in there ladies!

Life is good!
