Upcoming surgery for endo, what HRT afterwards?

Upcoming surgery for endo, what HRT afterwards?

Hi sisters,

I just found out I need to have surgery on 6/30 for the pelvic pain and pressure. In 2013 I had a hyster leaving rt ovary only, Dr said my endo was severe. In 2014 right ovary and appendix was taken for endo and adhesion disease. Now it is suspected I have endo, adhesions, and scar tissue. I am on Femring only which is mostly feeding the endo and Dr wants me on a combo of estrogen and progesterone. I looked into Nuvaring, Yasmin, and Angeliq.

What are you ladies taking that keeps your E levels in tact? I really don't want creams.

Re: Upcoming surgery for endo, what HRT afterwards?

HI Mila

Sorry you are having to back in for another surgery. My hyst was bc of endo and my dr was quite adamant about removing both ovaries bc it would continue to grow with them in there.

I had surgery a year before the hyst bc my left ovary was stuck to the colon. My naturopathic dr started be on progesterone. Despite not having any additional; pain from the endo my bladder was attached to my uterus so I went ahead and had the hyst. bc of the bladder pain. When the dr got in there he was surprised that he did not see any endo at all other than what was attaching the uterus and bladder. I do believe it was from the progesterone keeping it at bay!!

You should read up on progesterone. It really is a much needed hormone for lots of reasons!

The cream really isn't a big deal. If you get it from a compounding pharmacy it is so concentrated that it really doesn't take much. I use it vaginally so that there is no chance of it coming in contact my daughter or anyone else.

If your dr is like mine he won't want you back on the E for about a month so the endo will die out. That was a really rough time for me! I went 2 months just to make sure it was all gone. (wish I wouldn't have done that!!)

Thank you. So you put nothing on your skin and it is all vag? If you do not mind me asking what is the cost monthly for cream. I will do more research.

Yes it's all vaginal delivery. And its not messy. If you have ever used an estradiol vaginal cream (estrace ect) it is not nearly the amount that is used with those. I don't even notice any type of discharge at all with it.

My cost is $53 for a 3 month supply. So a little over $17 a month. Much cheaper than the patch even through my ins. Not sure of your location but every pharmacy is different.

I know ppl like to have them individual until you get your dosing to what you need but it is cheaper when they are combined. If I get them separated its $25 for 3 month supply.
