Eating issues.

Hi! I had a LVAH on Aug 30th. Doing ok in the healing dept. I've been having spotting on and off for about a week and the last 3 days bleeding bright red. I'm calling my doctors office in a few minutes (when they open) as last night I had a few gushesthat ended up in my toilet water being dark red. ANYHOW my question isn't about bleeding just wanted to give a quick history.

I used to put back the food with no problems. I wouldn't call me obese, but I'm defiantly over weight. Since about 4 days ago I have no desire for food. And when I do eat it makes me feel so bloated and gross it's horrible. I'm having regular bowel movements and all in all feel pretty good so I'm confused. Anyone else get this? I'm on no pain meds and taking it very easy.

Thanks!! I've been full of questions and this site is amazing !!

Re: Eating issues.

I really lost my appetite after surgery and have lost almost 20 pounds since then. my appetite is back to a certain degree, but I still get the bloated feeling which even makes my rib cage uncomfortable. My tastes have changed too. I used to drink lots of iced coffee, but haven't touched the stuff since surgery. I assume this will eventually fade away, but in the meantime, I'm making sure that I eat good foods, with plenty of protein so that I dont lose too much muscle mass.

Re: Eating issues.

That's exactly how I feel. And they left my ovaries. I drink a protein shake every day and eat lots I salad and fish. Funny how taste buds can change. Maybe my uterus was keeping me fat lol.

Re: Eating issues.

I felt the same way, but not only is my appetite back, it's back with a vengeance. What I noticed is that I don't have the chocolate craving as often, and when I give in it gives me a headache, I lost the craving for soda (?!) and now crave more fruit than anything else.
I still am overweight, and never lost any in the first 'not hungry' post-op period, which lasted a good month.

Re: Eating issues.

I am overweight and have been loving this particular side effect, every single time I step on the scale. . I have noticed my appetite starting to come back now though and I'm trying really hard to stay on the good side and not gain any weight back but to keep losing.
