increased pain and bleeding since D&C

Hello Everyone,

I have a silly question. I had a hysteroscopy/laparoscopy and D&C June 12 and I am scheduled for a TAH with removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes on September 28.

Anyhow, since that time my periods in July and August have been heavier, more painful and with even larger clots then before. I am also experiencing increased pain in the lower back and pelvic area. Why? I thought the D&C would at least decrease some of it and it is worst than ever. Any ideas?

Oh, one more thing. I have said repeatedly to my doctor is that my pain is in the lower left pelvic area and the same area in my back. Like someone shot an arrow through me. However, he claims he can't see anything there, it is all on the other side. When he was in looking around could he have missed something?

Just asking because I really, really hurt today and for the past week.

Re: increased pain and bleeding since D&C

I have no idea why it happens, but I have had the same experience a couple of times actually. With my last D&C my period came a couple weeks later when it was expected and one of the worst I had had in a long time.

I kept thinking how could there be that much there when they just cleaned me out, lol.

Re: increased pain and bleeding since D&C

LOL and my doctor told me I should feel better. I went through a pad an hour yesterday.

Then there is the continued sharp stabbing pain that grabs hold of me and everyone around hears me yell....ouch, ouch, OUCH.

I will be glad when it is over. Thanks.

Re: increased pain and bleeding since D&C

Oh, girl!!

My lap and d&c was in July and I am now on the 5th day of my period. Oh. My. Gosh. So much pain. 2 pain pills every 4 hours (strong ones) are just barely cutting the pain. Of course, I'm having a diverticulosis flare as well so everything in the area is angry.

You're not alone.

Re: increased pain and bleeding since D&C

I love it...you made me laugh "Hubby says my warranty expired" how funny.

If mine starts talking about my warranty I will have to remind him that a) he is six years older than me & b) what are the blue pills for?

The darn stabbers are taking hold of me, Mine is about 4 inches below and to the left of the navel and it is sharp.

Re: increased pain and bleeding since D&C

I had a laparoscopy, D&C and something else prior to my decision to have the hysterectomy. The next period that came was beyond brutal....a quick call to my doc confirmed that some women report a much stronger period afterwards - some warning would have been nice! Bleeding and clotting was even heavier than before....and I thought those were bad before. The three periods that occured between that surgery & my hysterectomy were the worst that I've ever experienced. If anything....it was a great reminder of why I needed to proceed with the final surgery. It was like my period made it's stand at the Alamo....it wasn't going down without a fight :/

I also have the stabbing pain in the left pelvic side....the only thing my doc was able to conclude is that the endo was only in one spot on my left side... he made sure to throughly clean that out during my hysterectomy - and I can kinda tell where that was as that spot remained sore longer than the rest of me.

Re: increased pain and bleeding since D&C

I had a D&C two years ago to remove a uterine polyp and my periods have not been the same since either. They are much longer and more erratic but thankfully, I don't have the pain you mention. Sorry to hear that Good luck with your surgery in Sept!

Snow_White,

I agree some warning would have been wonderful, boy was I surprised. Thanks for the support to everyone. Only two months to go and two more periods. ugh.
