going back to the doc. having some problems. one week post-op

i have to go back to the doc this afternoon. My mom and my hubby checked my incision last night and apparently there are a few spots where my incision is open about an 1/8th of an inch and isn't closing. my doc did interior stitches and just steri stripped the outside... so i called this morning and they want to see me. that's a good thing i think. any suggestions? i am doing everything right ( i think...)

and i have to see about getting more pain meds. i tried to wean myself off of them too early this weekend and spent a miserable few days trying to get caught back up on top of my pain. yuck.

thanks ladies for reading and ESPECIALLY for writing back. you are a life line.

Re: going back to the doc. having some problems. one week post-op

I had something similar when I had a c section 18 years ago. I formed a little pocket inside that wasn't healing properly. I had to have my incision opened a little (it didn't hurt) and then I had to be cleaned and repacked every day for 6 weeks. Hopefully this wont be the case with you, but its good that you are going to the doctor. Is there any puss or fluid leaking out of the incision site? I discussed this concern with my gyn prior to my TAH and she said she'd sew me up really good on the inside. On the outside I have been glued and steri stripped. Write back after you go to the doctor to let us know what he/she recommends for this. Good luck to you.

Hi SarahLeeAnn ~~

That's a good idea to let the dr see your incision and get you fixed up. Don't forget to take a little pillow to put between your belly and the seatbelt. Hope your pain begins to lessen for you. Try to rest as much as you can so you can heal inside too. Take care!

SaraLeeann,

Please allow yourself the pain meds.. your body deserves the meds after what it's been through... Our bodies need to focus on healing, not pain - Pain prolongs healing...

Glad you are going to the Dr. Please update us when you get back!
Take care of yourself. You're a now. Treat yourself like one...
