Anybody else suffering from swelly belly before hysterectomy

My uterus is the size of a woman 6 monthes pregnant. I have most of the same problems as a pregnant woman. Legs hurt,back hurts breathing problems. Nothing fits.
I was wondering if anyone has the same problem or had the same problem and if it goes away afterwards. I read about the swelly belly afterwards but not before. My hysterectomy is August 8th. I wrote yesterday that I am scared to death but I am finding a lot of comfort on this board.

My uterus was the size of a 5 and 1/2 month pregnancy before surgery due to a 6 lb fibroid. I am 6 weeks post op today. My belly is flat. I never got the "swelly belly" that so many others are suffering with. I think it's my gift for having looked pregnant for 4 years before the surgery.

Colbydog - I hope the same happens with me. You are encouraging. My uterus is 5 months in size. Last week I think I was ovulating and my abdomen swelled up so badly that I had a hard time fitting into my pants or finding comfort. This week it is just back to a pregnant belly. I am keeping the attitude positive for a problem free recovery.

I always had to buy shirts that were long and covered my belly. Pants had to have elastic waist or tie so I had room so that I didn't have pressure on the fibroid. I will hope for the same recovery for you and can't wait to hear how "small" your belly looks after surgery.

I think I can tell a difference 8 days since surgery. I had fibroids too, and my stomach was getting ridculous looking! When I don't have swelly belly (it comes and goes)my stomach does look better. The true test will be when I try on my pants that were getting really tight pre-surgery. (I'm not ready to face that just yet!)

My belly is really swollen right now. I'm about 13 days from my next (and last...woo whooo) period which is right on track because I start to swell extra-bad about 2 weeks before I start.
