4 1/2 weeks post hysterectomy and passing large clots
I am freaking out a bit and not sure if I should be or not. I am 4 1/2 week post op for TLH. As I was getting ready for bed I noticed some blood in my underwear and on my shorts. I then went to the bathroom and notice a lot more blood as I wiped and a large clot in the toilet. I have minimal bleeding after the surgery so I am not sure what this might be.

4 1/2 weeks post hysterectomy and passing large clots
Hi there! Big hugs because I can imagine that this is scary.
To set your mind at ease, I think it would be a really good idea to call your doctor tomorrow morning and tell him what's happening.
In the meantime, a few things to consider... Is the blood bright red? Or is it darker or even brownish in color? If it's bright red, it could be a sign of new bleeding which could be due to too much activity. If it's dark or brownish, it's most likely old blood that is now dislodging as your stitches are dissolving, which is generally not a cause for concern. Have you passed any stitches vaginally?
Is there any odor to the blood? If it has a foul odor, you definitely need to let your doctor know, as it may be a sign of infection. If you start to experience fever or other flu-like symptoms, your doctor needs to know about that right away.
I hope you're able to get a good night's sleep. Hugs!

Unfortunately it is bright red. . I have not noticed any of the stitches so I am not sure if it due to that or not. I dint not sleep well. Right now I am really bloated (more than usual) and i feel like I have been punched in the gut. I also feel a little nauseated. I just took some of the anti nausea meds that the dr prescribed so hopefully that will help. I will be calling my doctor this morning to get checked out. Not much sleep for me.

I really hope you saw your Dr. ...If this were happening to me, I wouldn't even wait for the Dr...I would be in ER.

4 1/2 weeks post hysterectomy and passing large clots
I have an appointment this afternoon. The bleeding seems to have stopped and I haven't passed any more clots. I am still really concerned hence the dr appt. I didn't think it was bad enough to warrant a trip to the ER.

I'm glad things slowed down...I hope you didn't take my comment as a judgement, it really wasn't meant as such.....I'm just a serious wimp, and a massive control freak lol, and this would've sent me into a tail spin!

No worries. I wasn't offended. Believe me I did consider going to ER last night. I was was crying and hardly slept last night. I am still pretty emotional. I am just trying to be rational. I am sure I drive my dr crazy as I email her with every little thing. I figured this warranted a visit and not an email convo. Every place I checked on the internet said to call your dr if you pass large clots.

Good news! I just got home from the doctor. She believes the clots were just granulation tissue. Nothing serious. She said everything looks good and I have nothing to worry about. . Thanks for the support.
