3 months post-op, feeling marvelous!

I got nudged out of bed at 5:20 this morning by a little person who decided to comandeer my pillow. I went to the bathroom and as I was finishing realized that it is so nice to be able to pee in the dark without worrying about checking to see if my period started. Then I realized today is my 3 month anniversary!

Ladies, this is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I should probably be starting my 5th period right around today (who knows, could've been more the way they were getting closer and closer together - but I'm figuring a 3 week schedule) and it is simply amazing to me that I've gone 3 months without cancelling one thing on family or friends. My life isn't ruled by "Oh, my, will I be able to go out in public that day? Should I make this plan or take a 'wait and see' attitude?"

I can honestly say that I noticed at my 2 month post-op date that swelly belly is no longer an issue and my energy level is back. This past month has just been wonderful. I feel like a human being again.

Oh, and can I mention the sex??????? Holy moly!!!! I forgot how fun it was. DH is amazed that I'm initiating again. Well, duh, why wouldn't I? The sole purpose I avoided it before was because it hurt! There is no pain anymore, so why would I continue to avoid a fun activity? Men are such dorks! There are still occasional twinges of discomfort, but they are fleeting and go away with a quick position change.

3 months post-op, feeling marvelous!

Forgot to mention that I had a TVH, so that might have a little to do with the quick recovery time. Plus, women in my family tend to heal quickly. My mom had a TAH when I was in high school and I remember her sitting at the kitchen table with her typewriter a week later catching up on work stuff. She consented to stay home if Dad went to the office to bring everything home for her. We all thought she was nuts back then, but she was feeling good enough to sit at the table for 1/2 hour increments throughout the day.

I guess I got lucky to have good genes that way.

3 months post-op, feeling marvelous!

I, too, am 3 months out and I still have some good days and some bad days. I had a TVH as well. I am very disappointed in my energy levels, even though I have been taking vitamins. I am tired a lot and can't seem to get motivated to do anything. I gained a bit of weight and am a tad depressed that I can't take it back off. I had my short term disability denied because according to the insurance company that handled it, 4 weeks is all I should have been allowed, regardless of whether my doctor released me. Since he could offer no complications related to surgery as to why I was out of work 7 weeks, they denied my claim and I lost out on 12 days of pay, which to some people might not seem like a lot, but to a struggling single parent it's a world. Especially right around the holidays. I hit rock bottom with depression and have slowly started to climb back out.....

I am happy that I no longer have the cancer to deal with, grateful that I have a new lease on life, don't get me wrong. Physically I feel great. It's just the mental aspect that I am struggling with right now.
