Anyone else unable to take Estrogen?

Hi,
I am almost 6 weeks post op from a TAH BSO and my doctor has told me that I cannot take any estrogen because I have a history of blood clots and smoke (only about 5 cigs a day). The symptoms are killing me....the hot flashes, moodiness, night sweats, anxiety, depression, etc. and I don't know what to do. I am taking Lunesta to help me sleep....works most of the time, but I'm so exhausted all of the time. I feel horrible and just wish I could get some type of relief. I can't take many of the OTC stuff either because of the clot problems. Has anyone else had this problem?? What did you do?? Please answer if you can....I really need to find help and relief!

Cath

Anyone else unable to take Estrogen?

Hi Cath,

I can't take estrogen, but it's because of my cancer diagnosis. My docs think that I haven't really felt any of the symptoms because I'm heavier and still have some estrogen floating around in my body. So far, the only things I think are coming from surgical menopause are the fact that I'm having trouble sleeping and I've had a few bouts of what I thought was a hot flash. It was no where near what I felt when they had me on Lupron, so I'm not sure if it would be classified as that or not.

There is a hormone free zone on Hystersisters called the "No-Hormone Desert Oasis". You may want to venture to that forum to see what's up and to see what the suggestions would be to help you out. I did order a chillow and those few times it felt SOOOO good.
