Started period - HELP!

I am posting on pre and post-op, hope to get a quick response. I left a message at DR office, but haven't got a return call - thought Sisters would be quicker...

I just started my period unexpectedly today - surgery is Thursday...is this a problem?

I DO NOT WANT any delays, and hope this will be ok by Thursday. Anybody know?

Thanks,
Mel-

Period...

Did you just wear a pad? This seems so weird - it figures that this would happen...just when I thought I had celebrated my last one. Thanks for the reply.

Started period - HELP!

Yes and they had me take it out in the pre-surgery area. I was almost finished so I wasn't "flooding" or anything. She said it happens all the time.

that's right -- it shouldn't be a problem.
you DO want to let your doctor know,
you should just wear a pad into surgery.

Quick replies - Thanks

I knew my Sisters would be quicker than than my DR office call-back! Thank ya'll so much for the support. I am starting to get "wigged out" as the day draws near.

I had to call Child Protective Services for a student today (which is never fun), followed by a Mammogram, a call from an upset parent because student's grades went down (did I mention they have pulled the kid out two Fridays in a row to go deer hunting), and then I find out when I finally get a restroom break that I had been bleeding way past a panty liner for probably an hour...I still don't have lesson plans complete for my substitute, and I am so crampy (and crabby) I just want to curl up in bed and start over tomorrow.

Thanks for your replies (and letting me vent!) I hope all are well and I am anxiously awaiting my turn at the Castle! That morphine button is calling my name today...

Started period - HELP!

I started my period the day of sx (2 weeks early!) The sx nurse said no problem and gave me a pad to wear with my cool mesh undies! She said it happens all the time. I came out of sx with no bleeding!

Started period - HELP!

My dr. wanted me to have surgery during the first two weeks of my cycle because he said recovery was better that way. The nurse wouldn't even schedule surgery till after my period was due. It was due around a Tuesday if I calculated right. Dr. did surgery on Mondays. I had to wait to have surgery the following Mon not the one before I was due. I was actually late Thank God and didn't start till Friday. I scheduled my pre-op on Wed or Thursday so I could drive since I couldn't drive myself while on painkillers or be away from a bathroom more than 20 min. I remember the preop nurse telling me I wasn't allowed to wear tampons to the castle. If only she knew what I went through in 20 min but oh well. As I've heard on here, if a woman waits till she is not bleeding, she may not ever have surgery. Some of us are bleeding all the time so it would be very difficult if they had to wait till we weren't bleeding. Just remember that many women are told they can't take any anti-inflammatories. So no advil or ibuprophen if you get cramps. I was given a different pain killer my dr. prescribed so I didn't have to suffer. They gave me a big chuck normally used for delivering babies which are able to absorb tons of fluid and that was better than underwear and a pad. It felt so good to just lay there without worrying about flooding or messing up another sheet or pair of panties. Good luck to you.
