ovarian cyst

Hi ladies!! I just wanted to know if i have a cyst or two on my one and only ovary, will my doc take it out? I think i do have one cause i always have pain there. I'm 30 yrs old and had the other one taken out due to a football size cyst when i was 16yrs old. I've read that sometimes your ovaries shut down after a LAVH and i was wondering if i should tell her to just take it. Is a ovary with a cyst on it considered health??

What kind?

Hi there

I think it would depend on the size of the cysts, and the length of time you have had them. Do you want to have children is another consideration. If you do, he might try to save the ovary. Sometimes they can remove the cysts if you're lucky.. I was not, and had many large "chocolate" cysts on each ovary, due to endo, that were so "engulfed" that they took my ovaries right over!! They could not be removed, although he tried during an earlier laparoscopy.. Best wishes!!

ovarian cyst

I already have 3 children, so no i don't want anymore. I just want to be ready for anything. I definatley feel like i have another cyst. I guess i just wanted to know if, since my DR is doing the TAVH, and if she sees the cyst or cysts, will she just take the ovary to avoid any other problems?

when is your appt?

Lulu

You should then discuss this with your doctor. Either at your next appointment, or call him/her. When you have your pre-op app't, just before the surgery, you will sign an agreement with the doctor. It will spell out just what will be done, taken out, and what you give permission for them to take out if it's necessary. So, you will have peace of mind beforehand. Good Luck!!

ovarian cyst

I just had my hysterectomy and I had a cyst on my left ovary and all the doctor did was drain it. That may be a option for you. But diffently talk to your doctor about your options. Good Luck and God Bless.
