Did anyone NOT get nervous before going to the castle?

I know it's 3 weeks away but I'm not nervous at all... I'm wondering if it's going to hit me the sooner it gets to d-day.

Anyone go in looking forward to having surgery?

Did anyone NOT get nervous before going to the castle?

I'm definitely looking forward to my surgery. I'm so tired of my nasty monthly symptoms that all I can think about is feeling normal again. I'm sure part of my recovery will be difficult, but it'll undoubtedly be shorter than my monthly misery. Keep up the positive attitude and good luck!

Yes very nervous as well. Scheduled for TLH / TAH 6 Dec and trying to keep busy to avoid psyching myself up. Reading the good and bad stories on this website is helping but may also be contributing to fear as well. Recovery is what really concerns me b/c I have always been the 1% of population w/ weird medical abnormalities that dr don't have the answers to from their text book.

Did anyone NOT get nervous before going to the castle?

My surgery is this Wed. 12/5 and I am not feeling too nervous. I haven't had too many symptoms...my doctor found a large ovarian cyst (size of an orange) about 6 months ago when I went in for my yearly exam...after a few ultra-sounds and an MRI I am having my uterus (because of large fibroids) and one ovary/cyst removed. I found the video of the surgery on this web-site to be very helpful in calming any anxiety I may have felt... I don't know what state of mind I will be in tomorrow night, but tonight I am still calm...

I would have to say that i'm MOSTLY not nervous. I'm really excited and ready to have this done but every once in a while I have a teeny tiny fear moment. Then I remind myself that this is a surgery that is done more than most and most of these have no complications. I had my pre-op today and it went great. The dr really put me at ease. I'm ready!

Did anyone NOT get nervous before going to the castle?

When I went for pre-op last Monday, I was a bundle of nerves and shaking like a leaf. But when I finished, I had a sense of calmness and eagerness come over me. I was ready to have the surgery right then and there! When Wednesday morning rolled around (surgery day), I walked in to that hospital full of confidence like a woman on a mission! I was ready to get it done!

sapphiresuz,
I was also looking forward to having my hysterectomy! I was sooooooooo very tired of the heavy bleeding, couldn't wait for it to end! I was nervous for about five minutes the night before. I thought I would be nervous waiting for them to get me into the operating room. But I was just too happy to be getting it over with!

For me -- nothing to be nervous about --
I knew that for me -- having this surgery was going to improve my life.

I had faith in the dr and that the BIG MAN upstairs would make sure that the right things were done.

Now my husband on the other hand -- wasa basket case -- he was so afraid something would happen and I would not wake up.

Did anyone NOT get nervous before going to the castle?

So far I have been worried that I want get everything at home and work done. But I am not (yet) worried about my surgery. I have some concerns about getting back to normal and to work but at ease about my surgery. (As of today) Getting closer so it may hit me all at once.

I agree with thediamondlady - I too had faith in my decision, my Doctor and my "connections upstairs" (both my mom and dad are in Heaven) - I didn't even break out in coldsores as I normally do if I'm stressed. Whereas my poor Dh had all kinds of worries (which thankfully he didn't share until afterward!!). You sound like your head is in the right spot - that's 90% of the path to a good recovery - all the best to you.
