New Here

Hi there! I just joined this forum today. I'm not sure, exactly, where to begin posting, but this forum was one suggested in my welcome post. I'm 34 and just got the "you need a hysterectomy" appointment today. I've been having lower abdominal pain for the past 2-3 months. It started as 1-2 times a week and has increased to daily pain. I'm also being evaluated for urinary incontinence. I had an endometrial biopsy that came back negative. I also was put on a week of doxycycline in case I had a uterine infection while we waited on biopsy results. Today, I had a transvaginal ultraosound. Results showed a small simple cyst on the left ovary, a large complex cyst on the right ovary, and free fluid in the pelvis. I'm not entirely sure what all that means. Despite the fact that I'm a nurse and already a cancer survivor (thyroid) my MD wasn't to "descriptive" if you know what I mean. My MD and I agree that my pain is centered on my uterus. We have agreed to a lap hyst with exploration of the pelvis to look at ovaries to see if they need to come out. A date hasn't been set.

Just wanting any thoughts or words of wisdom anyone might have!

Oh, also, I had Essure procedure done last September.

I am sorry you have to be here, though. But, you found this site, and it is full of wonderful, strong women. We are here to help you through this, and to support you both pre-op and post-op. This site is also loaded with information. Explore around. To get you started, here is some pre-op information.

I did have a TAH BSO for have a large ovarian cyst and fibroids. My ultrasound showed no free fluid, but I don't know what that means one way or the other. Are you seeing a gyn onc for this? That is who I was sent to. Just a thought. Sometimes you want that extra specialty to take a good look around.

Hello! I am sorry to hear you've been in pain and that your MD suggested a hysterectomy. I would like to encourage a second opinion, like an OB/GYN. It is always good to have a someone in a more specialized area take a look before deciding to remove organs. I hope you find all of the answers and support you seek here on the website.

Dolly - this was an OB/GYN who suggested it. He is a specialist in pelvic pain. I've gotten a couple of opinions and I think this is our best route.

I've prayed about it, talked to family and my PCP and then this MD. With my history of cancer, I'm ready for it to come out.

You have come to the right place to search around and read all kinds of experiences. I have had problems with pain and abnormal bleeding for years. I am so thankful to have found a docotr who is willing to help me. The one I saw previously, actually asked me if I was having "rough sex" when I talked to him about my bleeding issues. I was so embarrassed, I really didn't know what to say except NO. If you read around here, I am sure you will reach a decision that you feel comfortable with. I am scheduled this coming Monday for a da vinci hysterectomy. I changed my mind from having an ablation and a d&c after reading here. I feel great about my decision and I hope the same for you.

I am also new today. Good Luck. God is good and he is always on time. I am scared to death and didn't think I would be. I have had problems for 10 years which has led to removing tumors off both of my ovaries, having an ablation for heavy bleeding, so much I was afraid to go anywhere. The ablation worked for the bleeding but not the pelvic pain I still go through. I have cysts on both my ovaries which don't seem to go away. I am anxious but scared of the afterlife with no parts. I am glad I founf this site to have people to talk to!

Hello new sisters!

I am 16 days post-op and feeling good after having lots done.

Dealt with breast cancer this past July and decided it was time to get the prolapses fixed and lose the ovaries (complex cyst & BC was estrogen receptive).

I was tested in july for some spotting and MRI, trans vaginal ultrasound and endo biopsy all just showed uterine thickening. Well, the pathology report came back last week showing uterine cancer! Thank heavens I had the hyster as the tests didn't find the cancer. Had I carried that bad boy tumor around a couple more years while taking Tamoxifen for BC my oncologist says my small, non-invasive uterine tumor would have been an ugly problem.

Buh bye parts! I don't leak urine, I now have BM's like normal people do and now am cancer free! Good luck to all of you!
