how long in the hospital?
I am probably having a TVH, keeping ovaries, but it could turn into a TAH. My consult is on November 03, so I will know for sure then. It seems like most of you are in the hospital for three, four, and five days. Is it really that long? I know I will find out during my consult, but this waiting thing is driving me INSANE!!!! LOL.

how long in the hospital?
Part of me would rather have the TAH. From all the information that I have read, I just feel more comfortable doing this the old fashioned way. But, I will let my doc decide. He is great at what he does and I trust his judgement 100%. It took a lot of years to find a doctor that actually listened and cared. All of you on this site have been great and so helpful! My surgery won't be until mid-December, so I will have lots of time to make arrangements for my daughter and to make sure my husband has a schedule of anything special going on. My support system is great, and I know that the two of them will pamper me like crazy, but as I said before, this waiting game is ridiculous...lol I am not excited about any part of this (except the end result) but the hospital stay seems to be getting to me more than anything.

how long in the hospital?
Generally a hospital stay is from 2-3 nights. Some ladies even have theirs done as outpatient surgery and are home in less than 24 hours, and not all of those are lap surgeries.
I had the LAVH and was scheduled on a Tuesday with a release day of Thursday. Thanks to comlications I wasn't released until the following Thursday!
I am glad you have a good support system and hope that your surgery goes well! Hopefully your hospital stay is a short one! s

how long in the hospital?
Everyone is different.
It seems that most of the LVH or VH were in and out the same day or stayed overnight.
Those that had a SAH or TAH were in for about 2+ nights.
I had an SAH (kept ovaries and cervix) and was out just under 48 hours.
If there are complications or other things...it will be longer.

how long in the hospital?
Hi!
I had a TAH/LSO and was only in the hospital for 2 nights. I did have a fever on the 3rd day, so they almost kept me. But after my blood test I was able to leave and take oral antibiotics. I'm not sure why you would need to be in longer than 3 or 4 days (unless you have a complication) but I guess different hospitals do things differently though. Just make sure you get up and walk right away. That will get you feeling better quicker than if you don't ( it's hard, but does help).
My DH stayed with me overnight, and I was SOOO glad - because the and techs are very busy. And if you need anything, just moving to reach it can be hard, or getting up to use the bathroom. It is a great help if someone can stay with you. If not, at least get one of those grabber sticks so if something falls you can pick it up easier.
I enjoyed having my visitors and was glad when they left! I think it is up to the individual on how you handle pain and illness- if you prefer to handle it alone, or if you don't look your best and that bothers you. Usually, friends/family will bring nice hospital gifts like candy, magazines, funny cards-that helped cheer me up.
Best of luck!
Laura

how long in the hospital?
My Dr. told me when we set my date that I would only be there over night....2 if there were any problems...
I had a TVH with no other repairs to be made..... I was only there overnight, and very amazed to have had it all done without any outside incisions.
Yes the waiting is the hardest part of all, I think everyone that is post-op would agree that is the same for all of us !!

how long in the hospital?
I'm scheduled for a TVH an my doctor told me to plan on 2 days, 3 days if it goes TAH.
I'm not to keen on the "surgery" thing anyway, so I'm really hoping for the least invasive (TVH) procedure.
Good luck to you!
