Bleeding 18 days post hysterectomy & cauterised

Hi I am new to this site unfortunately. If I'd been braver to Google & seek much needed advice I am sure I would be in a different situation. Can anyone help Had LAVH & ovaries removed 10th June Discharged 13th a day later due to blood test result problems. Had no bleeding & advised to move around, provided with exercises from Physiotherapist & generally felt that the whole procedure was not too much by Consultant. I am very active, independent woman & went about moving not as normal but not taking it lying down! I started to bleed approx day 10 spotting first but then over the days quite heavily like a reasonable period. After contact with my consultant I was told to take it really easy & rest, which is what I'd did totally. The bleeding increased & once again I made contact with consultant & I was seen the next day & informed the heavy bleeding was a complication, that my stitches were coming away from one side internally causing the excessive blood. He cauterised me there & then! I have a very good pain threshold but found this painful & uncomfortable. I was ordered bed rest for next couple of days. Bleeding continued for following two days and only started to subside yesterday day 19. I doing nothing, sitting, lying in bed & feeling I've gone backwards. When can I start moving around again. I am nervous & it is not like me. I am also finding it hard to sleep at night, I think now through concern. Hugs to all who have gone through this & look forward to your comments.

Re: Bleeding 18 days post hysterectomy & cauterised

Hi. I had a lavh a few years ago due to abnormal bleeding n pain. I also had to be cauterized after mine because I was not healing the way he wanted me to. I also bled after that and was very worried about that . Its ok. Just please relax and where ever you go take a belly pillow and hold it against your belly to help hold it and reduce the pain. I carried mine all the time and found I slept better with it too. I had trouble sleeping because it seemed like I couldnt breath from swellybelly. It will all go down in time and you will feel better.. If you can elevate your upper body at night it helped me . My doc told me even though you cant see that you had a operation you did . Its all inside and you need to take it easy and take your time to let it all heal. You will be better soon and thanking God and the Hyster Sisters for being with you. I do and always will. Keep doing a little at a time. Good Luck . You are not alone we are all in this together.
