The "Ovary" Question

I am scheduled for a full hysterectomy this coming Friday. My surgery was scheduled due to many reasons. I saw it as an opportunity to rid myself from lifelong PMDD symptoms which turn me into a raging beast - terrible wife, mother, and unable "manage" myself properly even in random social situations. I have been on 100 mg Zoloft for 3 years and was bumped to 150 mg this past summer for increasing symptoms. So, my doc, based on my symptoms and consistent cycle related issues, has agreed to take the ovaries out. He wouldn't do it if he disagreed. I'm looking for encouragement and guidance. Just know that once it's done, it's done. I see it as a chance for freedom.

Re: The "Ovary" Question

I had all my parts taken out and I can tell you that my mood swings have lessened, even though the doctor predicted they would get worse. Could you possibly have estrogen dominance? That can cause craziness!

Re: The "Ovary" Question

Thanks for the reply. I could have estrogen dominance. Interestingly, i was WAY more stable throughout my pregnancies. In the past few years, it's gotten worse and worse. It's just a horrible way to live.

Re: The "Ovary" Question

Hi Melly,
Looks like we'll be Castle sisters, though I'm having TAH my ovaries will be removed because of PCOS. Though maybe not the general consensus on this board I'm thrilled to have them removed. I also have PMDD and the way I look at it, it can't possibly get any worse.

Good luck, and Happy healing to you!
See you on the other side!

Re: The "Ovary" Question

I'm hoping that the removal of my 1 ovary will calm my hormones down with my Endo. Good luck honey!!
