waxing or not

Hi Ladies,
I am concerned about waxing or not. I typically get a bikini wax done and I am over due. I am just concerned about having one before surgery on 1-18. I don't know if I should call the nurse, wait until preop appointment or do nothing. I do have a appointment today to get my brow done yeh, taking care of me. I also have a manicure and pedicure lined up just before. Any other taking care of me idea's?

PS the idea of someone shaving me and the terrible itches that occurs is not a good thought.

thanks for listening and any ideas?
hugs, Saleena

Well - I went for the bikini wax about a week before & no problems there. Then the morning of pre-op the nurse clipped the area. & swabbed with betadyne wash. They would prefer that you not do any shaving yourself because it is safer infection wise. My doctor says they clip instead of shave because it lessens the chance of in-grown hairs.

waxing or not

I wish I had waxed before my TAH. I just didn't think of it until a few days before. For me, one of the worst parts of recovery was how uncomfortable I was when the hair started to grow back in. It really hurt when it stated to poke through my underwear. OUCH! I highly recommend a wax, but just to be safe, I would call the dr's office and check.

Saleena,

I had a full brazilian wax about 1 week before my TAH. It was one of the best things I did to prepare. I had a lap earlier and they only clipped the hair - then put bandaids over it - that was not fun. So - I decided I wasn't going to do that again! Anyway - I had no problems! I did consider asking my DR. but I ended up not asking. I guess that's up to you!

The other thing I did for me was leg and underarm waxing - It was really nice to not have to bother with any of that in my early recovery. I liked it so much that I've kept having it done!

Good Luck!!

hi there,
I am so glad to see the responses. I went in yesterday for my brow wax, the waxer was so sweet she say's to me " sweetie when you get the ok just call I will get you in no matter what".
I was relieved and yes, I do have a call in for the doc's although I can't see a problem with it only with out it!

What is a brazilian?

So I am 2weeks out today and I am a little crazed. My mom and sister where both suppose to come to Seattle, they live in Utah, but neither one is coming know and I am a little sad. I have a great partner and he's "who else do you need but me" very sweet but I'm still sad about mom.

Anyway I do have really good friends, and they are willing to do for me what I can not do for myself. thank goodness!

thanks for letting me ramble my head is confused and sad.

Sounds great! I wish I had done that! A brazilian is where they wax it all off...the entire bikini area. I'm not brave enough to do it all...maybe sometime this summer. Good luck on the 18th!

Beenie,

Wouldn't that hurt too when it grew back in?

actually, no. Whe you wax it is not itchy when it grows back in and for whatever reason, the hairs don't poke through the undrewear like they do after shaving. Like I said, the poking through is what really hurt. Weird huh!
