Sleepy Ovaries? What are they?

My Dr also told me that my ovary should pick up where the other one functioned also. However, doing the math, it is possible that my other ovary might just decide to retire here in the next couple years during peri-menopause. I'm not too worried about it. My hot flashes have been tolerable so far.

I'm going through all the symptoms of menopause, but my hormone levels are normal. Though my doctor (surgeon) and several nurses witnessed a wicked hot flash!
My cousin (mid 40's now) had a hysterectomy at 26 (I'm 29 now) kept both ovaries (I kept one), she stated she went through the same thing, and she's heard many many cases of the same. She called it "phantom" menopause. Real symptoms- but no verifiable reason. Similar to someone who has a leg amputated but still has phantom pain. The pain is absolutely real pain, but how could something that is not there hurt.

I guess this could also explain why some women are still "crampy" even though they don't have a uterus!
