6 weeks post hysterectomy - going crazy not sleeping at night

I am 6 week post op. I have hardly slept during that time. Not tired during the day most of the time. But going crazy not sleeping at night. Yesterday I decided to stay up all day and clean. Did not work. Restless leg and arm set in. Took Advil and.did not help. Now today I am tired with my arms feeling like they don't want to work. Have company coming over.tonight, graduation party tomorrow along with a birthday party tomorrow night. Laying on the couch thinking I have things to do for tonight including grocery shopping. At my witts end. Help

Call your doctor. See if they will prescribe you a muscle relaxer or something mild to help you sleep. I've been taking 2-4 mg of tizanidine and am up to 20 mg melatonin. Most nights that does the trick. She started me out on hydroxyzine pamoate then tried amitriptylin. Neither worked for me so I switched to the muscle relaxer. I also had to change my HRT and we are still playing with the dose. Over doing it physically only made it worse. Unfortunately it takes time. Don't worry about having to take something. It will work out and you won't become addicted. Good lock!

6 weeks post hysterectomy - going crazy not sleeping at night

Ive been struggling with insomnia since op in Jan, it was fine while I was not working, but I'm 2 weeks into a new job and am exhausted. I started with the melatonin last week, slowly starting to get some zzzz phew. It's not nice being exhausted.

I don't seem to be able to sleep at night either! First week post- op I slept around the clock, alternating between the bed & my couch to alleviate the back pain resulting from only being able to lay on my back after surgery. The 2nd & 3rd week, I was awake more, but napped everyday and then found that I could not sleep at night, so my 4th week, I quit napping but still cannot sleep! I don't go to bed until 1:00-2:00 a.m., but once I go back to sleek in 20 days, I am going to NEED my sleep! I guess it might be a menopause symptom? I don't know what the answer is, but know that you are not alone.

Yes, insomnia can be a menopause symptom. Even if you still have your ovaries, if they are not working good, you can still have it.

I take Valerian root supplements for sleep. Work like a charm! Melatonin doesn't work for me.
