Bleeding from cervix - "Granulation". Anyone else?

Marv,

I have a question... my GYN said that I should take tylenol before I come back again in two months! Ut-oh, of course I'm glad to know that it could happen again and I have time to psych myself up *gulp*

How much time went by between each of your three nitrate treatments? Were you able to tell on your own that the granulation returned?

Trishi, nitrate treatments

Trishi,
Definitely take the Tylenol! I have had all three treatments within the last month...maybe month and a half? The first time she removed a lot and I didn't think it would be that bad the next time which was about two weeks later. It wasn't AS bad but still no fun.
The latest one, on Wednesday was worse than the first and there was actually less to be removed but it was in a hard to reach area.
I really haven't been able to tell either that it is there or that she has removed it. The discomfort that was there from point A was still there prior to my apptmt. on Wed. and I have yet to get the nerve to see if things have improved. I don't think it was so much that it had "returned" but more like it was not all removed either time prior to the last. She was sure that she had removed it all this time so we'll see.
What is interesting to me is that when the GYN removes it she seems to think it is a lot but from my point of view it is more like, you mean that little bit is causing all this trouble. According to her it is very sensitive.
From her reaction I think it is definitely on a person to person basis how painful it is during and after. Personally I was ready to kick her right off the stool!
She used a product called Hurricaine which is a numbing compound after the procedure and it helped until I was able to get home. I crawled in the bed, stayed as still as possible and took some of the pain pills I use for my migraines!
Sorry to make it out to be so bad but if you're like me I prefer to expect the worst and hope for the best or at least in between!

I will cross my fingers and hope for only the best for you. Good luck and BTW if you have anything stronger than a Tylenol, indulge yourself! Let me know how it goes. I'll be happy to offer a cyber hand if you need support before or after.

Bleeding from cervix - "Granulation". Anyone else?

I have had a granuloma (inflammatory cluster of growth of granulation tissue) surgically removed at 16 weeks, and have now been dealing with granulation tissue. I need to go back as last night the right side of my vaginal cuff is hurting, and I know it needs to be treated again with the silver nitrate.

Thanks for all that you shared Dyanne. Yes I am someone who would like to know as much about something if it will help prepare me. It sounds like it could also be multi-treatments for me too. In a way I am glad that I get to wait two months to go again instead of the quick trips that you have endured.

Thanks for the suggestion about the pain meds. I do have a couple of the pain meds that I came home from the castle with. I checked with the GYN and she has told me that bringing them with me to the next appt might be a good idea.

And thanks for the "cyber hand"

Teresa,
ya know, I had no real idea that a cuff could hurt so that I could actually feel it. I am amazed that others can actual feel the granulation pain on their own. I only knew it was there when the GYN touched it I can only imagine what that may feel like for you.

I hope your next treatment goes easier for you.

Man! Thanks to all of your support!

At my recheck appt., I really anticipated that "touch" inside. I stiffened and tensed every muscle in body while repeatedly uttering "..please no more...please no more.... please no more....". I completely forgot to breathe! The good news.... NO MORE GRANULATION!!!

The GYN feels she retrieved it all the first time around. Needless to say, I am so happy. But... I certainly was more prepared this time anyhow... I had a leftover percocet from my hysterectomy, which of course I can put back in the bottle in case this nasty little granulation stuff returns.

Good luck to anyone who finds themselves identifying with this thread. You certainly have found the best place for unconditional support.

Yippie.... [so ecstatic]

Love and hugz for all of your support, Trishi

Bleeding from cervix - "Granulation". Anyone else?

I'll bump this thread up because it's of good interest! I was under the impression that the granular stuff was like coffee....much smaller than the "dime" size that was descibed! OUCH!

Well.....mine were not like coffe grains or beans! More like the dime if not bigger. Even with that I remember thinking how can that[b] cause so much pain???

Oh, there are symptoms of pain with this? So you will probably know if you have it?

I went to the doctor due to pain with intercourse. She said that the granulated tissue was the cause.
