Alternatives to Lupron

Hi Chattykasper
Well.... Nothing has ever taken away my pain. (Not even a hyst/bso) The pill made a slight improvement for a few years & I did have improvement on prescription strength NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds) at times. I pretty much lived on them, but they started to take their toll on my stomach and I just couldn't do it any more. Now I've learned my kidneys have paid some of the price too.

Although my Lupron relief was only temporary, it was good while it lasted. I tried progesterone but couldn't tolerate it.

I hope you find something that works for you.

s,
Beth

Alternatives to Lupron

When I tried it before hysterectomy it made my flooding worse. When I tried it after (for endometriosis) I felt down, tired, and my face and scalp broke out something terrible so I was just trading one set of symptoms for another. It was after my hyst that I really wanted to use it - to help keep the endo at bay since I had a recurrence on estrogen replacement therapy. We are all different though, and some women are greatly helped by hormonal therapies. The only experience you are guaranteed to have is your own & I'm crossing my fingers for ya.

Thank you so much I will have to keep reading. I don't have problems with flooding on 2/3 days with very large fibroids. I will check with the health food store on tomorrown. Just kinda back in the corner with it all right now with the bisilar migranes. They have to shrink them before they can get them out. I will wait around and see if anyone esle post and keep readin the board.

Again, thank you so much I will read you previous posts tomorrow. Still learning how to navigate the board. Tried to send you an angel and it did not work.

My gyn said Lupron may not be good for (due to health reasons) and had me try Lybrel which is the BC pill you take that has no sugar pills so you never get your period. She wanted to see what would happen if I basically shut everything down. But I reacted badly to it (as I do all hormone type things) and I stopped taking it. I go to yet another dr this week to see what he says about it, then back to my gyn to talk about it more.

Thank you so much!!

I will have to go back and read your previous post. I will also look it up on the web also. I hope you are doing better right now. I think the support the women here give one another is great. I feel so much better since I am here.
