Officially a Princess in Waiting

Well, it's official. My TAH is scheduled for May 12th. Due to ovarian cancer, they're taking pretty much everything. I'm not sure about the cervix yet, but I really trust my doctor to do what's best for me once he's in there.

Let the waiting (and nerves) begin....

Hi - just so you know -the waiting really is the hardest part. I got my date in Nov and my surgery was in Jan. Some days it will seem so far away and then it will be here and you will be feeling so much better.

Mine was on Jan. 24 and now that I am past 6 weeks and cleared for all activities I am not even sure if I am 9 or 10 weeks out - once you are better you tend to stop counting and just start living.

Wishing you an uneventful recovery, Veronica

Thanks, Veronica.

I'm looking forward to having this behind me. I'll have another 6 rounds/months of chemo to go afterwards, but that will feel like the "downhill" side of all this. I should be cancer-free by Thanksgiving. What a wonderful thing to be thankful for!

What purpose does the cervix serve? Is it a contributor to female health and well being. I am glad I read your post.

I am scheduled for TAH April 16th and I am meeting with my OB GYN next week. These are questions I will ask.

Officially a Princess in Waiting

I just heard about this site at dinner tonight as I prepare to have a full hysterectomy on Monday. It's only been about 4 weeks since it was skd and I'm scared, not for the surgery, but being alone. I moved from MA to NC almost 2 years ago. I am hoping just for safe and successful surgery and recovery. The waiting is the hardest part but I'm told the rewards are great. I hope so...

Hi MGrubbs,
I wanted to drop in and invite you to post in the Cancer Concerns forum if you'd like; just click here https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/for...daysprune=&f=6
There are many women in the CC forum who are dealing with ovarian cancer and I am sure they will glady share their experiences with you re the surgery and the chemo, etc.
