Pain in upper thighs?

I have had pain since surgery (12/14/12) in upper thigh going up to groin area. I figured it was normal after surgery because of my legs being propped up during surgery for the length of surgery, but I would have thought it would go away by now. Is this normal? Other few pains but I'm tolerating them ok with use of ibuprofen and/or Tylenol. Experiencing pain in my right pelvic area (ovary site maybe?). I had TVH both ovaries removed. They removed a fibroid, never was sure where it was located but was told by my PA presurgery when I complained of similar pain in that area that it was my fibroid.

I have my '2 week' follow up this Friday, really 3rd week but was the soonest I could be seen.

Re: Pain in upper thighs?

I had numbness in that exact area for the first week or so following surgery. Also groin pain. The groin pain is now gone, but I still have small areas of numbness in my upper thighs.

IMO this is caused by the nerves which always experience trauma with any abdominal surgery. They should regenerate and heal, though at what pace is no doubt an individual matter.

The numbness wasn't as bad as the groin pain. It drove me nuts and it was scary. I thought it wouldn't go away, but it eventually did.

Please post how your visit goes and what the doc says. I'm very interested as well due to my own experience.

Re: Pain in upper thighs?

@Shempetta, I had my office visit today. She gave me a great report, all looks good. The pain is normal, she said, just part of the healing process. I was glad I finally had my visit with her today because I was concerned with another 'issue' with having to strain with my bowels lately. I thought I had loosened my sling, it felt like things were 'falling out'. She said everything is in its place like it should be. So whatever I an sensing must be the swelling and healing process. Anyway, I feel more relaxed about everything.

Glad to hear it! I knew everything had to be OK because those were exactly what I had felt in the earlier weeks of healing. They all gradually disappeared. Had a few nerve zings in my right thigh yesterday but knew it was just the nerves doing their thing.

It gets better and better, believe me. Right now I'm not feeling anything from the surgery. You will reach that point too! Thanks for the update.
