Freezing or burning up..

I am 1 week, 3 days post op. I had the robotic liposcopic surgery. My doctor removed everything but my left ovary. I find myself freezing most of the day, but wake up with awful night sweats. Is this normal? How do I get relief? I'm 35 so will I have to go on hormone replacements?

Re: Freezing or burning up..

This is normal, your remaining Ovarie needs to * wake up * that can take some time.
Right now you are going through the Surgical Menopause.

I am not sure if this will continue since you have just the one ovarie left.

Re: Freezing or burning up..

Hi! I'm 2 weeks post-op, also had robotic hysterectomy & was able to keep both ovaries. I am experiencing the same thing. I go from one extreme to the next throughout the day; I will be freezing cold and then 30 minutes later I am burning up. Sometimes when the pain gets the worst I get so cold that my jaws start chattering & they won't stop for a good 10 minutes or so.

Re: Freezing or burning up..

I am experiencing the same thing. I'm never comfortable tempurature wise. I'm either burning up or freezing. I kept both ovaries but I have PCOS so the idea of them working after surgery was always in question. Heck they didn't work when I was trying to have babies so why should they work now? I will say it is getting better though. I am 7 1/2 weeks out too.

Re: Freezing or burning up..

It should get better, if it doesn't your dr can give you some hrt to bridge the gap while you heal. Your body was used to a lot of estrogen and now you removed 1/2 that supply plus confused it by removing your uterus which is the body's biggest consumer of estogen. As a result you are creating fluctuations and that causes hot/cold flashes. Things should even out. In the meantime sleep in light clothing but have a blanket by if you get the shivers after the sweat and have a fan on you.

Re: Freezing or burning up..

In the 90 degree summer I go out with a long sleeve shirt and carry an extra shirt with me. In the house the a.c. is set to freeze.. I'm hot I'm cold... no I mean I'm cold I'm hot... (kept both ovaries) The first couple weeks I'd wake up hot n panicky.. its settling some now.

Re: Freezing or burning up..

I too have similar experience, I lost uterus, cervix, & left ovary. About 10 days post op I had insomnia & night sweats. Dr gave me estrogen patches to use for few weeks til ovary wakes up. I have had no problems since being on them! I am only 38
