SAH: post op travel to 9, 000 foot elevation?

I'm curious, has anyone traveled by ground to a high elevation after abdominal hysterectomy? I'm scheduled for December 10th and we take an annual trip to a Christian Camp every year for Family Camp on December 30th - January 01st. The accommodations are like a hotel/lodge but the elevation is almost 9, 000 feet compared to the 2, 500 ft elevation here at home. Could this cause collapsed lung etc three weeks post optimum? I absolutely will discuss this with my surgeon but would like to know if anyone has done this. I have no respiratory or heart conditions and I'm a healthy woman of 39 years. Thanks

I agree you should discuss with your doctor as its very close to your surgery.
Abdominal surgery tends to result in more blood loss than other forms of hysterectomy. This can make you feel a little weak and breathless (short of oxygen) for a few weeks/months, which may be more obvious at altitude. Not everyone is affected in this way so it will be a very individual thing. It was something I experienced.
I hope you're surgery goes really well and you have a speedy recovery but please take care of yourself, rest loads and give yourself a chance to heal. x
