TAH One month post hysterectomy: Period Cramps

had my TAH on June 4, and last night I had period cramps?!?!? I didn't think I would ever experience those again and how is it even possible? My DH said it's probably phantom pain lol
Anyone else?!?!

My surgery was June 18. Pre surgery I was having more than one period a month due to fibroids. I'm only 39. I had everything removed including ovaries. A few days ago I started feeling pressure, restless and cramping. Same before period symptoms I had pre surgery. I felt confused by it as I no longer have my uterus or ovaries which I figured is what triggered those symptoms.

I had TAH same day as you. About every 4 or 5 days I get period cramps. My dr said it is from my colon and bladder settling into their new positions which puts pressure on the pelvic floor/vaginal cuff and causes pelvic spasms. He assures me it will diminish by 8 to 12 weeks. Thankfully mine are not everyday. It's scary. Hang in there. We have come a long way since June 4! We will be thru this soon! 💗

I didn't feel period cramps, but I felt pain in the spots where organs and a giant cyst had been. So I can relate to the idea of phantom pain.

Yep I still get them and I had surgery in 2013. When you keep your ovaries they still release hormones and an egg once a month. They don't care the uterus is gone so you can have period pains. Also the hormones can effect your intestines and cause them to cramp and that feels like period cramps. Weird I know but at least the bleeding is gone.
