I'm so confused and freaked out, please help :(

I have two really large fibroids. Both are over 9 cm. I had a endometrial biopsy today. My doctor mentioned the possibility of a uterine embolization rather than a hysterectomy. I guess due to the location and the size of the two large fibroids I may not be as good of a candidate for the DaVinci as they originally thought. Now I'm totally confused. Isn't the purpose of the embolization to shrink them but it's only temporary and it sometimes doesn't work? Is it more dangerous?

I've tried looking it up but everything is freaking me out right now. I'm so stressed and anxious and I don't know what to do. My aunt is a surgical nurse and she assists on these surgeries. She thinks the risks might be too great for the embolization but my doctor says it may be the better option because it's less invasive. I had a prior heart surgery and a history or mini-strokes but that has been under control for over ten years. I'm so confused! Did I mention that I'm stressed and anxious and convinced that no matter what option I choose that I'm going to die on the table? I'm a mess right now! Please help.

Re: I'm so confused and freaked out, please help :(

My largest fibroid was 36.4cm x30.0 I searched for 2 years and found a wonderful teaching surgeon with over 750 divinci surgerys preformed. He was quite confident he could do the surgery. All my scans showed a 15cm fibroid but once they put the camera in and measured, both him and his assisting surgeon were shocked at the size. The assisting surgeon asked if he was just going to open me up and my surgeon said no, but get ready for a long night. My surgery was 6 hours, but he did it. My recovery will be longer then others but I am so very grateful.

Seek out a surgeon who has the confidence. It took me 4 doctors before I found him. Don't give up hope.

Get a second opinion if you can. Another dr may have the experience of removing a lager fibroid. Not sure what my size was but mine was a 15 wk pregnancy size. He filleted my uterus and brought it all out vaginally and I was able to do it vaginally. He told me before surgery if he can't get it I would be converted to abdominal.

I also had a very large fibroid, but was able to have the DVH surgery. It was brought out through the vagina in strips. I do believe there are many factors involved one being the Dr's experience. Good luck.
