Still having bowel issues (update on Dr)...and now mini period
Hey girls!
I am still having bowel issues. My BM's have been a struggle now for weeks. I feel like I have to go, can feel that it's right there but I have to strain and strain to go. If I can't get it out then I have all kinds of pressure in my rectum.
I did go to the Dr. (my GYN) the other week and he checked me and told me he didn't think there was anything serious going on. He said there is no evidence of a rectocele or cysteocele either. I told him how I feel like I'm going to push something out of my vagina when I have a BM but he said that's not going to happen. He did have me stand up and bare down while he felt up there with his fingers.
Get this...he told me that he didn't know why I thought my bowel problems would have anything to do with my surgery. Seriously? He's the surgeon. Shouldn't he know that adhesions can cause bowel issues? Or am I the one mistaken? I find it odd that I've never ever in my life had these kinds of problems going to the bathroom and now I do.
OH...and after telling me in the exam room everything looks fine and he doesn't see any problems he tells me to come into his office. I go in there and he's talking to his tape recorder and mentions something about me having a large cervix that is protruding into the vaginal vault (I think that's what he called it) and also said the anterior wall of the vagina is weakened. When I asked him about the vaginal wall being weakened he shrugged it off and said it's nothing to worry about. What the heck?? I went in there concerned about my butt and came out worried about my cervix and my vaginal wall. I am not feeling any better about this. And now I'm still having issues.
Also, yesterday started spotting during a BM and still have some mild spotting today. I had breast tenderness last week which always happened right before my period and my period would have actually been due on the 1st of the month so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have mini periods. I don't know if I had one the first week of January because I spotted for 5 weeks after my LSH. I am ok with having the mini periods though because that is one way for me to know my ovaries are working just fine. I'm surprised it was almost right on time. I thought it would have been screwed up from the surgery. I just hope it only lasts a couple days and doesn't go on for weeks. Ugh.
Well, that's it for me....guess it's a good thing since I wrote a novel.

I'm sorry you're having these problems. Quite honestly, I think you may want to consult another doctor. If something is worth recording into his notes, it's worth talking to the patient about. Although it may be that everything is still healing and that you'll be fine, it might be better to hear this from someone who seems to listen and acknowledge your questions and concerns. Even if you see another doctor who says the same thing as this one, maybe the other doctor could at least explain it better.
I wish you luck. This sounds frustrating.

I think you need to see another doctor too. Even if you have to go back to your primary doctor, or someone else who listens and explains. Your surgeon is definitely lacking in bedside manner!
I'm still using metamucil daily for my bowels because they just haven't gotten back to where they use to be. I wish I could be more helpful.
Best Wishes! in working this through.

Still having bowel issues (update on Dr)...and now mini period
Hi Vanessa118377,
I had a LSH and I agree with the other ladies. I would get a 2nd internal exam from another Dr. Just to play on the safe side with your recovery.
If your Dr. is telling you one thing in the exam room...and then you hear him talking into a tape recorder in his office...and he is saying something else...it sounds like the trust in your Dr. is broken. The most important thing for me with my LSH Dr. was-and-still is because..he is still my gyneo Dr....is Trust. I think another Dr. will either back up what your Dr. is saying or give you some more idea on what is causing your rectum and bowel strain.
Sending best wishes~
Mary
