HELP!! I had tah almost one week ago

Aerobicsunshine,
we had our surgery the same day. I have the same burning pain. My dr told me it was the nerves regenerating. I hope you are starting to feel better!!! Hugs Raymo

HELP!! I had tah almost one week ago

Hi Marcia, Sorry to hear you have a uti, another burning pain you really don't need on top of everything else. I had a uti, my one and only thank goodness a long time ago. The dr said I mostly had it under control because I was drinking lots of water so the bacteria count was low. Hope you got your meds for it and did your dr have any advice, opinion about the burning pain?
Went to my dr yesterday. Actually, all the bruising and shades of red, yellow and purple are totally gone which surprised me considering what it looked like that first week. The hard lumpy areas below and above my incision are in fact, blood clots after all. The area still hurts to touch it at all. Luckily nothing is infected and dr said we just have to wait it out. Hope you have a doc that you feel you can talk to and ask questions. Mine is pretty great. I must have asked her 4 to 5 times if the burning was normal. She said yes every time. Here's to less pain and lots of healing. Hugs, guitar.

HELP!! I had tah almost one week ago

Dear aerobicsunshine,
I had a lot of burning that first week-10 days in particular, but they were pretty manageable with the prescription codeine, ibuprofen, and ice packs. My dr said the burning was likely nerves that got stretched and were "waking up". I was really fit before the operation and it's hard to accept how slowly I have had to take my recovery. I was really shocked that 20 minutes walking at 2 weeks was too much, but I have learned to listen to my tum to tell me what it's up to doing. Remember, this is your one chance to recover from a TAH!

HELP!! I had tah almost one week ago

Hi Guitar,
The dr.ave me med for the uti, which I started on friday..here it is sunday and really dont have much relief. it still hurts when I pee, and my left groin hurts. the dr. was no help about the burning either. last night, had to go on recliner with gel ice pack, the burn was so intense. the dr. never mentioned it could be from nerves healing,etc..but I can talk to him like a friend,he isnt aloof and i make jokes with him a lot..maybe he just thinks I'm a candidate for the nuthouse!! lol Thanks for the info.

Wow - lots of you with the burning too, huh? Yesterday I felt like had a very bad sunburn on my skin. I couldn't stand anything touching my skin - not even the water from the shower. Very strange to have that type of pain. I took a percocet and the pain went away. I'm wondering if it is from doing too much? Doesn't happen all the time, in fact today it is very minimal. The skin isn't red, incision looks good, but there is some bruising in pubic area below the incision on the left side. I still have swelling below the incision as well.

I'm with you, RedTiff - very surprised it is taking this long to recover. I will be 2 weeks postop this Tues and I thought I'd be able to drive or walk short distances now. There is no way I can drive, at least not as of yet, and I walk to the mailbox and back. Yesterday my SO took me for a ride in the car and in spite of my pink Super Girl pillow pressed firmly against my abdomen between the seatbelt, it was rather uncomfortable and I only was in the car about 10 minutes before having to come home. I felt like a 90 year old woman physically and mentally! It was the first time I was in a car since the ride home from the hospital and I'm pointing out the crocuses, the birds, the pretty blue sky, how calm the ocean was, etc. My SO just laughed! I still walk bent over a bit with that Tim Conway as the old man shuffle!

Oh, thank goodness we can all laugh at ourselves, huh?

I had the same intense burning, more on my skin on the stomach than deep within. I used Motrin and a TENS unit along with an ice pack at times. It seemed very intense for about 2-3 days and then began to lessen although came/went for the first couple of wks. I am now 4 wks. postop and no more burning.
