Curious about pain meds

I asked not to have morphine since it made me nauseous with another surgery. They gave me toradol in the IV, which worked great. They gave me percoset and ibuprofen 800 mg when I left for pain mgt, but I didn't need the percocet.

As they other ladies said, just make your doctor aware of your concerns. Best of luck!

Talk to your dr about your pain medicine concerns. I don't remember being given medicine unless I asked for it. I was never on the pump after my LAVH, I was only given oral meds, and I don't remember anything stronger than Tylenol 3s. (At the time there was concern I could not take Vicodin which I would have been prescribed so I was given the Tylenol 3s as they are not as strong.) I didn't take pain medicine for the hyst after the second day.

If you have concerns about the pain pump, do know that they are set up so that you only receive a specified amount no matter how many times you push the button. Once you reach the maximum amount, it will not give you any more.

If you have concerns about meds that make you anxious, let your dr know so that your dr can work with you to find a med that will help you with your pain but have the least amount of side effects.
