stitch infection

Sisters
Have any of you had a stitch get infected? I had dissovable stitches and only the ends of my incision showed signs of them. The end where my pubic bone is infected now. Went to the Dr yesterday and she said this is what it probably is. It hurts to get up, sit down, move my legs. She prescribed antibiotics to take and drew a circle around it. She said if it gets to the circle then to go to er for iv antibiotics. Does anyone know what causes this and what else I can do to make the pain go away. She said warm compresses, so far this has not worked. It is really depressing when you think you are getting better and all of a sudden you feel just as bad as the day after surgery.

stitch infection

I had one end of my stitches get infected, Kathleen. I had a horizontal cut - sounds like you had a vertical cut. My doc had me wash and put hydrogen peroxide followed by neosporin on the area. It worked like a charm.

It was disappointing but ended up not being that big of a deal. I took it as a reminder to not overdo it.

Hope you feel better soon!

stitch infection

I think I might have a stitch that got infected. It is on the left side of my vertical incision .I asked my DR on Monday but he wasn't worried he said to keep putting the antibiotic cream on it. I go to my GP tomorrow for another matter and I will ask her about it then. It doesn't seem to be getting better.
