Cleared for intercourse but scared

Hi all
So, I've finally been cleared by my dr for intercourse but I am so scared about it. I've had a rough time with my recovery and don't want things to take another turn for the worst. Any tips and advice on how to get over this would be great.

Re: Cleared for intercourse but scared

Well the best advice I have is take it slow. Relax as much as possible. Maybe drink a glass of wine. I'm not a drinker but I've heard it helps relax you. I'm pretty sure after my TAH in 2009 I waited 6 weeks. I just had the same obdominal inscion to remove my tubes and ovaries on 10-1-13 My Dr cleared me for sex at my 9 day post op visit!! No I'm not kidding and NO I'm not even gonna try it until probably 4 weeks post op. Good luck💃

Re: Cleared for intercourse but scared

Along with Amybeth's suggestion of taking it slow, one of the most important things is to clear your head and relax as much as possible. Explain to your significant other that you are nervous and scared, which by the way is normal and understandable Ask him to go slow and be gentle. It may help to find a position where you have the most control. Some find that being on top is better and some don't. You'll figure out what's best for you. And know that the first time or sometimes even the first couple of times post op may not be all that great, and if it isn't, don't get too frustrated, just wait a bit and try again.

Good luck
&
Lots of (((HUGS))) to you

Re: Cleared for intercourse but scared

I had a TLH in just at six weeks he real waded me and I was scared to death. What I have noticed is I need lubrucation aide every time it just doesn't work that way any more. We took it slow the first two times since it was as right as could be from lack if sex. After a few minutes if adjusting we were good to go. Just have to have ky or something like that.

Re: Cleared for intercourse but scared

I was scared too. It is better than ever now and it was mind blowing before. Use lubrication and if you want just take a quick dip and leave it at that at first. Thats what we did and I controlled everything. Only had a shallow entry. I did not expect anything.. Just wanted nothing to go wrong. It was not fun at first and a little sore...Slowllyyy worked our way up each time. Thats how I did my whole recovery. Eased into everything at a proper pace. It was way worth it. Now i feel like we are on our honeymoon and have to make up for lost time! All i can say is WOW.
