lost my job due to sickness.....

Hiya girls

Well, it happened. I received *the* phone call..the "sorry Tess, but you've had too much time off sick" call.

*****, eh? I needed this like I need another hole in the head.
Sigh...I'm now thinking if I should just schedule the surgery and be done with it. I'm a smidge confused, as you can see - don't mind me whining.

Hope everyone's doing ok, and is staying happy and positive.
Love to you all,

Tess

Hi Tess

I am so sorry about your job loss. I know this is extra stress you don't need right now.
I assume/hope your medical insurance will continue for awhile or through COBRA?
Do you have private disability insurance or state disability insurance? If you are under a doctor's care and scheduling surgery with recovery time you should be eligible to collect.
I was able to collect disability payments through my state while unemployed. The amount is pretty good here and it is not taxable.
Otherwise you can try for unemployment insurance depending on how long you had been at this or a previous job.
I hope this helps a little.
Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise and you can take care of yourself and have your surgery if that is what you want to do. It sounds like your health problems are definitely interferring with your life. For those of us that have had our surgeries it is really nice to be done with the pain, bleeding, anemia, misery, missed work, etc.
Good luck and let us know what you find out.

lost my job due to sickness.....

Shelly, thankyou so much for your kind words.
Luckily I'm covered on my husband's insurance - so with any luck, it won't be an issue.

The more and longer I think about it, the more it seems to make sense just to schedule the darn thing and have it all over with.

But, I'll keep thinking about it - specially as I've bought a couple of books on hysterectomies, just to read up more about them.

Thanks again Shelly, you're a star

lost my job due to sickness.....

Tess,
I had to leave my job due to the same thing... I was missing work too often and when I was at work, I'd be in such pain I'd spend half the day in the ladies room or the break room. I would also come home from work and cry for about an hour....so here I am waiting for my date of april 25. It took me months to schedule it... I just want my life back... I have so much I want to do still... living around pain and periods is the pits....
best wishes,
kara

Could There Be Help Yet?

Are you in a position (worked there long enough, enough employees) to be covered under Family Leave and could then bring that up with the employer? Were you unionized? I'm glad you're covered health insurance wise but am wondering if FMLA

lost my job due to sickness.....

Hiya

Thankyou again for your very kind words.

I was a temp for Kelly's Services - I was placed for 14 months within a huge pharmaceutical company (ironic, isn't it?..it's the same one that makes aygestin), who have no interest in people who are sick. No sickness benefit, or sick leave, really.

Ah well - we live and learn...and the more I learn, the more alive I feel.

Hope you're all doing well.
