3 days post hysterectomy

Wanted to share a positive story.I am 3 days post total LAVH and doing well.

Prior to surgery I was proactive with exercise mostly walking and light arm weights as well as good nutrition.

Day1 awoke pretty alert from anesthesia . The foley cathera did not agree with me so it was removed and shortly after I was able to get out of bed and urinate on my own. That evening I was able to walk down the hall with my daughter. Did not use the self administered pain killer much except before walking. During the evening I got up several times to urinate. By 1am I was able to do it on my own without assistance. Wasn't hungry.Drank a lot of ice water with apple juice in it as well as adding vitamin C powder to water.

Day2 Was ready to go home I put on some makeup fixed my hair and waited for the doctor.By 10:30 am I was on my way home.
Upon arriving home I was able to walk the flight of stairs to my bedroom. Took a shower and my husband brought me chicken broth and activia greek yogart. Was lucky to have an electric recliner in room so slept there.

Day3 beautiful day went outside and took 2 ten minute walks.Added benefil powder to my water and had a bowel movement.Gas and swelling is minimal now.

When im tired I rest or sleep.I eat bland small meals high in protein.I walk as much as possible.

I am 65 years old and this was a preventative total hysterectomy because my sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year.

I wear a belly band for support when im walking.

I am also taking a multivitamin and probiotic.
