Ack, my sister-in-law was being helpful...

When I told her about my surgery, she looked horrified and wanted to know which doctor I was using. When I told her, she looked even more horrified and told me please, please don't use that doctor. She said that doctor was horrible (she knew because she's a janitor and cleans the office, and the office was a mess.) I told her that my midwife of 20 years, who is a goddess, had recommended this doctor. My sister-in-law said "Please, I beg you, call her and ask her why that doctor."

When she left, I was in tears. My husband was furious with her for upsetting me (she's his sister.) I told him she was only trying to protect me.

Half an hour later she called me and said that she had been mixed up, that she was thinking of a different doctor entirely, and that the doctor I was using was just fine...

I've only met this doctor once, but I had really good feelings about her. She reminded me a lot of the midwife that I love so much. My sister-in-law's "mix up" sure got me rattled for a bit!

,

First of all. Thanks so much for sharing this, as, it just shows how important kindness with support is.

Surgery in general is a very sensitive issue. But hysterectomy is not general at all. Every aspect of this major event in our lives has to be presented and discussed with our Drs., in the most kind and supportive way possible. Isn't this why we are all here at Hystersisters?

I'm so sorry that she upset you so. Right now you need to surround yourself with people who are supportive. Perhaps your DH can discuss her "outbursts of concern" with her before you see her again. Remember that you deserve to be treated like a Princess to be.

I'm sending you many s and you'll always find kind support here with your Hystersisters. OXO

Much Love,
AnnieWoof

I agree wholeheartedly with ((((AnnieWoof))))

And I'm sending you a big

I hope your SIL learns to think before she has one of her outbursts the next time. BUT, on the other hand...she is likely concerned about you, as this surgery is major.

Would you consider getting a 2nd opinion on your need for surgery?

much love
