TAH how long before return to work

I am a cna and do heavy lifting. Was wondering if anyone has help to how long I should be on leave?

I had a LAVH and I am a toddler teacher. It is very active, lifting, bending, stretching type work. I have been off for six weeks. My Dr still told me to try to ease back into and not lift too much if possible. I told her I have been thinking of ways to help with that, but it is a all or nothing type job.
Depending on the type of surgery you have had, you may need to stay out longer.
Has your Dr given you an idea of how long you might be out?

Thanks. I had abdominal hysterectomy and both ovaries out. I am in week 3 and feeling physically good but emotionally not so good. But see Dr next week to discuss my issues.

I would be very hesitant about going back before at least six weeks and possibly eight weeks. As a cna, you are constantly bending, twisting, lifting, pulling, pushing, and it will wreak havoc with your muscles doing this. You also have to be able to lift pretty heavy weights at times and your abdominal muscles will really ache at first I bet. Make sure your doc understands the physical demands of your job. Can you start as light duty perhaps? Some places will allow that.

Wow i cannot imagine returning to full work load as a CNA at even 8weeks post op. I worked the floors as unit support and then CNA for 13 years and im only 10 days post op and would be freaking out just thinking about it! Definatly follow the previous advice of our sister. let your know exactly what you do and have him give explicit limitations and parametors to your employer... most will definatley accomodate you Good CNA's are in high demand !!!
