Scheduled Surgery Today

I just found this website yesterday and have been reading the articles and comments from everyone. I found all the information to be helpful. I am a bit nervous but also excited to finally have a date... May 20th. I have 2 periods a month that are extremely heavy, although they cannot figure out why they occur. I have tried different medications but nothing helps. I also have a heart condition and with the blood lose makes my blood pressure drop extremely low to the point where I am constantly passing out. My cardiologist recommended the TLH and my OB/GYN agreed that would be the best bet. I am looking foward to not passing out anymore and will be able to drive! Now I have my husband, MIL, and mom driving me everywhere when it is that "time of the month". I am really curious as to how recovery will be... I have had 2 c-sections and one recovery was easy and one was difficult so I think I am making myself nervous thinking about it. Anyway, any advice for recovery is greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories!

Scheduled Surgery Today

hi there! Glad you found the site, and i'm sure you are as happy as i was to find it. It has definitely been a Godsend to me in such a difficult time. I have had 2 c-sections and I am 25 days post-op from a TAH. My doc went through my c-section scars. I have read that a laparoscopic surgery is much easier to recover from, and less downtime, so that should make you a bit happier. I'm sure that none of the hysterectomys are actually easy to recover from, but it sounds like it will definitely be a big weight off your shoulders to be feeling good again. My TAH has been more difficult than either of my c-sections was to recover from, however it is a bit different than the surgery you are going to be having. Honestly though, even with some of it being more difficult, I really do feel so much more positive about my future. I even at this point feel better than I did pre-op, which really has shown me absolutely how miserable my life had become Good luck to you sweetheart. I wish you a great and uneventful recovery!
