After a Vaginal Cuff Dehiscence???

9 weeks post up from the Davinci Hysterectomy, had a vaginal cuff dehiscence. No one mentioned anything regarding intestines etc, so assume this was not an issue. I just want to know if anyone has had the above rare occurance ( I understand why it may have happened, just need to know what to expect after), and what I should expect post op (3 weeks now post op). Since this is such a rare occurance, there is not much out there...I go back to work tomorrow and every little twinge I have kind of freaks me out...I DO NOT want this to happen again...Doc said she could still feel the stitches at 2 weeks and it looked good, and she said this is a good thing....anyone out there that can give me their experience's?? I would so greatly appreciate it.

Sorry this happened to you!

I'm not sure what it is but does not sound fun.

Re: After a Vaginal Cuff Dehiscence???

Wow, I had to google what that was...sounds awful!!! I had a DvH but -so far- no complications. I guess as long as the stitches are in place, you should be okay. Like you, I experience occasional twinges, which I think are normal. I am not going back to work for two more weeks (I'm 2 weeks post op). I hope your job doesn't require you to be physically active!

Re: After a Vaginal Cuff Dehiscence???

Hi, I had the same thing happen to me 8 weeks post-op (same surgery). My surgeon never mentioned this complication. I did not have an ideal recovery and felt that something was wrong 6 weeks out. The surgeon never ever did a pelvic exam. I was completely ignored by the nurse practitioner who said my extreme discomfort was "normal." 2 weeks later I was in so much pain and could not breathe. 911, ambulance ride, and emergency surgery to repair a complete vaginal cuff dehiscence. If I had waited longer, I could have gone septic. Needless to say, I was livid. I worry like crazy.
