By the way, the official term is Vaginal Cuff Dehiscense. You can find a lot of info online. Let me know if I can do anything.

I hope everything goes ok! How terrifying for you. I'd definitely get a 2nd opinion as soon as you can. My ins has a number you can to have a doctor or nurse call you back, see if yours has anything like that. Maybe they can let you know how long you should wait to get into a doc. Or maybe go to that hospital, but tell them you want another opinion. You are in my thoughts .

get a second opinion and (probably) fire this guy....he should be chastised for his not-bedside manner, even if everything else he says holds up w/ another opinion.

I don't have much confidence in him at this point. I've been home from the hospital for 2 days now. Still in unbelievable amounts of pain, and leaking more now than when I went in. I am now 7 days since this began. My plan is to seek a second opinion at this point, even if it is merely for some piece of mind.
How are you doing, been thinking about you and praying for answers.

I am 9 weeks post op. My husband and I were cleared by OB at 6 weeks for intimate relations.

Two evenings ago we were gently intimate, and (TMI-sorry!) as we were finishing I was suddenly hit by the most intense, agonizing, debilitating pain I have ever expirienced in my abdomen. Sharp shooting pains and intense pressure. I also had a large gush of bright red blood, and continued to spot through the night. I was unable to sit up or stand for nearly 30 minutes. After I was able to sit up I called my OB, who recommended waiting at home to see if things improved as it was late, and we have 3 kids and an ER visit would have been difficult to orchestrate.

I followed his advice, and eventually I was able to fall asleep. I woke many times that night in agony, sweating, shaking and leaking fluid, which I assumed was urine.

The next morning I went in for a exam with OB. He determined that the stitching had come apart on the sides of my vaginal cuff, and that I was I fact leaking abdominal fluid, not urine. He also suspected that I had an ovarian cyst rupture at the same time causing me the excruciating pain. He ordered an abdominal ultrasound to confirm (he didn't want trans-vaginal due to cuff damage), but all they could see was some fluid, and possibly blood, but they couldn't find my ovary. He prescribed heavy duty pain meds, put me back on post-op instructions and sent me home.

This morning I woke with a fever of 100 (after 1000 mgs of Tylenol/ I am allergic to Ibuprofen), still in excruciating pain, leaking fluid, and basically miserable feeling. I called OB (as instructed in case of fever) and he put me on heavy duty antibiotics.

Now, I am aware that I need time to heal, and fight off infection, but I am wondering if anyone has any similar experience? I am wondering if I should be pushing for surgical repair of the damaged vaginal cuff, or if it is standard to wait and see how it heals? What are the remifications of allowing it to heal on its own? Could it possibly heal poorly, or am I overly worried about nothing? I didn't want to Doctor Google this as it tends to scare me more than necessary. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated ladies, TIA!
OH MY! I don't want this to happen! After reading several posts about the vaginal cuff tearing I am afraid to have sex! My husband is counting down the days (8 weeks next Friday) and I am thinking "oh, hell no"! Does this happen to everyone?

It's a big fear of mine. Percentage wise, it seems only a small percentage of women experience a ripped cuff, but....

My heart goes out to you and anyone dealing with it.

This does say that sometimes the treatment is to leave it alone, but you aren't getting answers or peace of mind, so I encourage you to go with your gut and seek a 2nd opinion.

I'm sorry you are going through this!
