Should I reschedule again?

My Gyn told me on 9/7 (My 40th birthday) it was time for this fibroid uterus to go TAH & Tummy tuck. I scheduled for 11/1 and then again on 11/29 and now I am scheduled for Jan. 5. I feel and look about 5-6 months pregnant and have low back pain. The bleeding is slightly better after the D & C. I do not have my business or home in order to take time off to prepare or recoperate. How long is realist to be off work? I teach cpr and must be able to lift and carry 24 lb manikins up and down the stairs. My doctor said any where between 2 to 8 weeks.

Should I reschedule again?

Hi Carol--The normal recovery period for a hysterectomy is about 6 weeks. The fact that you're also having a tummy tuck makes that 2 weeks time that your dr. mentioned a little unrealistic. Unfortunately, there's no perfect time to have surgery. Maybe you should plan to take 6 weeks off, and leave yourself an option for 2 more if you feel you need them. Hope you can work things out so you can get as much time as you need to heal. Best wishes,

Should I reschedule again?

CArol-
If you wait until your "ready" it will never happen. You just have to make up your mind that this is what is best for you and that it's time to just jump in with "both feet".
Sounds to me like you are scared (which is normal).
The waiting is the hardest part. Once surgery is over, you wil feel so much better. When you are facing the "unknown" it can be awfully scary.
I am 9 wks. post op from a TAH and I can assure you that this is the absolute best decision I have ever made for myself.
